Heavy bands of snow moving through the area have prompted Environment Canada to issue a weather warning for Red Deer and surrounding areas.

Visibility will be greatly reduced while under these bands, Environment Canada says, in some cases to less than 500 metres. Snow will accumulate quickly.

Overall snowfall amounts will likely approach 10-15 cm, however the bulk of that snow has already fallen and the low visibility is the main hazard at this time.

– Red Deer County near Penhold, Innisfail, Sylvan Lake, Bowden, Pine Lake, Spruce View, Red Lodge Park, Stephensson House, Elnora, Lousana and Delburne
