Impaired driving charges have now been laid after a 17-year-old girl was fatally hit by a vehicle on O’Chiese First Nation late last month.

The fatal collision happened just before 6 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, when RCMP from Rocky Mountain House responded to a complaint of a disturbance on the First Nation.

Officers arrived to find a young woman who had been struck by a vehicle. She was transported to hospital with critical injuries, where she died on Monday.

The 22-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle was arrested on scene.
