Rocky’s garbage collection services changing hands
As of February 1, the long-standing provider of garbage pickup in Rocky Mountain House is changing hands from the Rocky Mountain Regional Solid Waste Authority to Red Deer-based Empringham Disposal.
The current provider will be dissolving this spring and will no longer be in the curbside collection business.
On January 14, Clearwater County Council approved the extension of the deadline to complete a new Rocky Mountain Regional Solid Waste Authority Agreement with the Town of Rocky and the Village of Caroline to March 31.
Clearwater County Communication Coordinator Djurdjica Tutic explained that the county, being the managing partner of the Solid Waste Authority, does not wish to compete with the private sector when there are other curbside collection services being offered.
