Alberta country music awards handed out in Red Deer

Some of the finest musicians our province has to offer were honoured this weekend in Red Deer at the Association of Country Music in Alberta Awards Show and Conference.

Edmonton’s The Dungarees took home the first and last awards of the night as they won Album of the Year and the Single of the Year for “Twenty Something.”

Mariya Stokes won Female Artist of the Year while Drew Gregory won Male Artist of the Year.

Gregory also won Song of the Year for his track “Better in a Bar.”

Musician of the Year went to Johnny Gasparic.

Edmonton band The Prairie States took home two awards on the night, one for Best Group and another for Best Video for their track “Just Maybe.”

The 2020 Horizon Youth went to 17-year-old Hailey Benedict.

Tenille Townes won this year’s ACMA Entertainer of the Year Award.

Calgary’s Ben Chase won the Fan Choice Award while Ryan Lindsay took home the Rising Star Award.
