Fatal crash on Highway 11 west of Red Deer

A 27-year-old man from Red Deer is dead following a crash between a semi and a pickup truck along west of the city Thursday morning.

Red Deer Emergency Services (RDES) Duty Chief Matt White says crews from the City of Red Deer and Red Deer County responded to the collision on Highway 11 at Burnt Lake Trail just after 11:30 a.m.

White confirmed that the driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck passed away as a result of the crash.

The driver and lone occupant of the semi, a 51-year-old man from Eckville, was not hurt.

RCMP say the semi-truck was travelling westbound on Highway 11 when it collided with the southbound pickup truck.
