Drayton Valley community dinners make their return

Drayton Valley residents will once again be able to participate in a popular monthly tradition, as the Community Dinners are returning starting tonight.

The first community dinner of 2020 is happening tonight, January 21, at the Mackenzie Conference Centre from 5:30 to 7:30.

Like before, people wishing to attend can pay what they can or nothing at all.

The Community Dinners were set to end in December, but have been brought back thanks to an initiative by the Drayton Valley Community Foundation. They decided to take on the project after Drayton Valley Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) opted out of running the dinners again for 2020 after starting them in 2017.

Meant to bring community members together regardless of social status, the meals are again being sponsored by local businesses and agencies.
