Crash Investigation

Car nearly hits church following downtown crash

Jan 20, 2020 | 3:01 PM

One person has been taken to hospital, with charges pending against a 49-year-old Red Deer man following a three-vehicle crash in downtown Red Deer Monday.

RCMP say it happened around 12:45 p.m. when a car travelling westbound along 55 Street rear-ended a vehicle in front of it just before 49 Avenue, then side-swiped a third.

Mounties say the offending vehicle ended up on the grounds of Sacred Heart Church and damaged some fencing in the process, but the church itself was not struck.

Police confirm an adult male in the rear-ended vehicle was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries, while no one in the third vehicle was hurt.
