Nabbed at McDonald’s

Three Red Deer men arrested for Cremona armed robbery

Charges are pending against three men from Red Deer in relation to an armed robbery at a motel in Cremona.

On Thursday, RCMP were called after two males wearing masks had entered the motel with a long-barrel firearm and demanded cash from the employee.

Police say the suspects were unsuccessful in obtaining any money and fled in a black Hyundai Elantra with a third male suspect behind the wheel.

A short time later, a report was received that a small black car had slid off the road east of Cremona near Range Road 34. A local resident called police, who attended the location and confirmed that the vehicle was the same used in the robbery.

After it was determined that the three males had been driven by another area resident to the McDonald’s in Olds, Mounties from Didsbury and Olds, joined by the RCMP Red Deer Police Dog Section and RCMP Auto Theft South, attended the McDonald’s and arrested the three suspects without incident.

The three males, ages 35, 34 and 27, are currently in custody awaiting bail hearings and charges related to the armed robbery. Their names will not be released until formal charges are laid.
