Anne Frank a History for today has its opening reception January 26, from 2-4 pm. Public invited.

MiniMAG- Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00 am

January 22- Wrapped Yarn Birch Trees

We will be printing birch trees using wrapped yarn and paint.
This is a drop in program. Cost is $3 per child for non-members, $2 per child for members. Parents and caregivers are always free. Your little one(s) can enjoy some toy time, create mini masterpieces and play while you enjoy a cup of coffee. Perfect for ages 5 and under.

MAGsparks- Mondays and Wednesdays, 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Arts program connecting people with developmental disabilities to the Red Deer arts community. $3/participant per class. MAGsparks annual memberships available for purchase.

January 20- Arp Art

Today’s Class: German-French abstract artist Jean Arp used random chance as a tool to create his art. We’ll be taking a cue from Arp’s creative process and letting the pieces fall where they may for this project.

The MAGsparks artists will show everyone how to create this week’s themed art project, so make sure to arrive by 1 pm, and then there is free time to creatively work on your own artwork. An artist is always on hand for assistance with your art project.

A Day @ the Museum: Happy Holland – Celebrating the Netherlands

January 17- 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Canada liberated Holland from WWII 75 years ago. Let’s learn about the Netherlands and the beautiful Dutch culture.

Our Day @ the Museum: Day Camps run on select Red Deer Public & Red Deer Catholic school PD Days. Cost is $25 per child/day for museum members & $30 per child/day for non-members.

Children will create their own art work. Supervised outdoor time is also included, as well as free time to explore our galleries and Remarkable Red Deer. Please provide your own lunch, and bring appropriate outdoor clothing.

January 18- Crazy Abstract Colours

Create abstract designs of repetition and colour. Trace and overlap shapes and create new shapes and new colours.

Drop-in art making for the entire family in the Discovery Studio at the MAG. We supply the artist, the inspiration and the materials, you supply your imagination. Admission included with your Family MAG Membership or drop in admission rates apply. Drop in rate of $10 per family for non-members.

2 O’clock Tour: Canada and the Liberation of Holland

January 19- 2:00 pm

“Sacrifice, Hope, Friendship: Canada and the Liberation of Holland” explores the Canadian and Dutch experience during and after the Second World War. Artwork, photographs, and artifacts work together to tell the stories. This exhibition is on display at the MAG from January 18 – March 22, 2020, alongside “Anne Frank: A History for Today.”

Opening Reception: January 26, from 2-4 pm.

The travelling exhibition “Anne Frank – A History for Today” tells the story of Anne Frank set against the background of the Holocaust. The exhibition makes use of images from the Frank family and quotations from the Diary of Anne Frank. Each panel displays information about the most important developments of that time: the rise of National Socialism, the Second World War and the persecution of the Jews. This is a travelling exhibition from the Anne Frank House (Amsterdam, The Netherlands).

Sacrifice, Hope, Friendship: Canada and the Liberation of Holland explores the Canadian and Dutch experience during and after the Second World War. Artwork, photographs, and artifacts work together to tell the stories.
