Awards & Scholarships from Red Deer Arts Council now open

The Red Deer Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2020 launch of an award for Emerging Artists, supporting and encouraging promising artists, early in their careers, while raising the profile of the Arts by stimulating, developing and promoting creativity in Red Deer and Red Deer County.

Artists of all genres are encouraged to apply.

Criteria for artists and application forms are now available and can be downloaded from our website at https://reddeerartscouncil.ca under the Scholarship and Awards tab.

Deadline for receipt of completed applications is March 1, annually.

The funds for this award are the result of the Legacy Fund from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Distinguished Arts Awards held in June 2013 in Red Deer.

Elsewhere, the Red Deer Arts Council is excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Princess Margaret Scholarship, Centennial Scholarship, Waskasoo Bluegrass Music Scholarship and the brand new RDC Music Society Scholarship.

These scholarships are variously aimed at secondary and post-secondary students and are intended to support and encourage promising young artists in their continued development, while also serving to raise the arts profile in Red Deer and surrounding areas by stimulating, developing and promoting the arts.

The residential boundaries for eligibility range north to Ponoka, east to Stettler, south to Olds, and west to Rocky Mountain House.

Artists of all genres are encouraged to apply.

Finally, the Red Deer Arts Council is excited to announce the third year of an award for developing visual artists to support their further growth and development.

The Artwalk Developing Visual Artist Award is a legacy of Red Deer Artwalk Society; the society’s remaining funds were donated to the Red Deer Arts Council in January 2018 with the aim of establishing an annual award available to developing visual artists living and working in Central Alberta.

Criteria for artists and Applications are now available and can be downloaded from our website at https://reddeerartscouncil.ca under the Scholarship and Awards tab.

The annual award is $1,500.00. Annual deadline for application is March 1.
