Thunder Country trampoline athletes score medals at Alberta Cup

A total of 15 medals were handed out to gymnasts from Red Deer’s Thunder Country Trampoline and Gymnastics Club at the First Alberta Cup this past weekend in Calgary.

The event ran January 11 and 12 with athletes from across the province having the chance to compete and qualify for the Dare to Soar Competition in Texas at the beginning of March.

Out of the 15 medals, five golds were handed out to Red Deer gymnasts. Spencer Kooman won two gold medals in the level 6 18+ Men’s division, in individual trampoline and double mini trampoline.

Ebony Campbell bounced away with a gold medal in the double trampoline and silver in the individual trampoline events. Brenyn Chapman took home a bronze medal for Individual trampoline in the same level 5 17+ Women’s division.

Sophie Nossack, who competed in the level 5 17U Women’s double and individual trampoline, won two silver medals at the event.

Rees Hawryscko won a silver medal in the level 5 16U Men’s double where Cody Cyman also took home a bronze in the same category. Also in the same group Taelum Henfrey won a bronze medal in the individual trampoline.

A pair of siblings won hardware in the senior divisions with Kalena Soehn winning gold in the double trampoline and her brother Keegan winning silver in the individual trampoline event.

Kaiden Neidert won bronze and gold in the level 1 Men’s group, and Chloe Berreth won bronze in the level 3 Women’s double. Piper Workman and Danika Lagrange won gold and silver respectively in level 1 Women’s tumbling.

Cyman, Hawryscko and Kooman all qualified for the Dare to Soar Competition. Keegan Soehn is going as a coach.
