Tip from the public results in four arrests near Penhold

A tip from the public has led to the arrest of four people and the recovery of stolen property near Penhold last weekend.

On Jan. 4, Innisfail RCMP received a report from a concerned citizen of a white Ford F350 dually truck which appeared to be stuck in the ditch west of Penhold. Mounties say four people were observed fleeing the area on foot.

Innisfail RCMP responded and confirmed that the truck was stolen from the Sylvan Lake area and was the suspect vehicle involved in multiple occurrences throughout central Alberta.

With the assistance from Red Deer RCMP, Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team, and RCMP police Dog Services, all four suspects were located and arrested without incident.

A search of the stolen vehicle turned up additional property which was later returned to their lawful owners.

Peter Walker, 34, of Innisfail, has been charged with Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, three counts of failing to comply with conditions, possession of break in tools, and trespassing.

Walker has been remanded for a court appearance on Jan. 21 in Red Deer Provincial Court.

Harvey Lee-Bernick, 35, has been charged with possess of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, failing to comply with conditions, possession of break in tools, and trespassing.

Lee-Bernick has been remanded for a court appearance on Jan. 10 in Red Deer Provincial Court.

Jason Cunningham, 30, of Stettler, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, four counts of failing to comply with conditions, possession of break in tools, trespassing, break and enter with intent, and mischief under $5000.

Cunningham has been remanded for a court appearance on Jan. 10 in Red Deer Provincial Court.

Mounties say charges against the fourth individual have yet to be sworn before the courts, therefore their name cannot be made public at this time.
