Rocky RCMP Report Dec 30- Jan 7

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of December 30, 2019-January 7, 2020.

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

December 30

11:34 A.M. – B&E to storage units in RMH industrial area. A Computer was stolen.

12:43 P.M. – 2001 FORD F250 stolen from RMH RV repair shop. Recovered on Sunchild Rd. with fire damage to the cab.

1:24 P.M. – RMH male arrested after found in a vehicle with another male, contrary to previous release conditions. Released by JP for court in mid January.

2:08 P.M. – RMH resident contacted by fraudsters advising that she had won the STARS Lottery but needed to send money to collect the prize. Cheque was sent but the bank was notified, hopefully in time.

3:31 P.M. – Complaint from a RMH bank advising that a male had just tried to cash a stolen cheque. Police attended and arrested the individual who also had illicit drugs on him and had outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was remanded in custody until the New Year.

9:43 P.M. – Report of a male attending the hospital with a stab wound. Police attended and spoke to the individual who said he stabbed himself and refused to provide a statement on what actually occurred.

December 31

4:05 P.M. – Report of a car “egged” at a residence in RMH.

January 2

7:59 A.M. – White GMC Yukon reported stuck in complainant’s yard on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. Police attended and confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen Dec 21st from RMH. The vehicle was towed and the owner notified.

9:22 A.M. – Red 1994 FORD F250 stolen from residence on Range Road 5-5 & Twp Rd 38-4, in Clearwater County.

10:20 A.M. – DODGE Truck, trailer, and skidsteers recovered in ditch on Range Road 5-5 & Twp Rd 38-0, Clearwater County.

January 3

1:40 A.M. – Report of an intoxicated driver going through the drive-thru at a RMH fast food restaurant. Police attended and dealt with the GDL driver who was given a Mandatory Alcohol Screening test. After blowing a “Caution,” the male was given a 30 day driver’s licence suspension and a 7 day vehicle seizure.

8:59 A.M. – White 2008 Jeep Patriot stolen from a residence in RMH. The vehicle was recovered 5 days later after it was discovered damaged on a lease site in Clearwater County.

11:35 P.M. – Police stopped a vehicle on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve with an obscured licence plate which was found to have been stolen. As a result of the investigation, charges are pending against the driver & passenger, including for traffic offences.

January 4

5:24 P.M. – Report of a disturbance at the gas bar on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve in which a male locked himself in the washroom. Police attended and arrested the individual who had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

5:57 P.M. – Complaint of an assault which occurred on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. One male was arrested upon police arrival. Charges pending.

January 5

10:27 A.M. – Abandoned vehicle on a lease site in Clearwater County. Police attended and had the stolen vehicle, from Eckville, towed.

6:30 P.M. – B&E reported to a residence on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. TV’s and food was stolen.

January 6

2:20 P.M. – Complaint of a male entering a local RMH church and gaining access to a locked room where $300 cash was stolen. Under investigation.

January 7

9:47 A.M. – Mini storage unit broken into in RMH.

12:48 P.M. – Peace Officer vehicle broken into while parked at a car dealership in RMH.
