No injuries after plane lands in field near Bear Lake
A small aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in a farmer’s field northwest of the Grande Prairie Airport, shortly after take off on Christmas Day, after the plane’s engine lost power.
The plane had two occupants on board, who were uninjured. The plane, a Cessna 150, was also found to be undamaged.
Emergency crews were called around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening on a report of a downed aircraft near Bear Lake. Both City and County fire crews, the Wembley Fire Department, as well as RCMP, STARS, and Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue responded.
STARS spotted the downed aircraft in a field right along Bear Lake near the Grandview Hutterite Colony later in the evening, after the location of the aircraft was not initially known.
