Stabbing reported in east Red Deer

There was a heavy police presence in east Red Deer Wednesday morning following a reported stabbing incident in the Lancaster neighbourhood.

An RCMP spokesperson tells rdnewsNOW that a possible stabbing victim was taken to hospital, and that a search for a suspect is currently underway.

Several schools in the east part of the city were placed under ‘hold and secure’ as a precaution while police conducted their search. Those schools included Hunting Hills High School, Notre Dame High School, Mattie McCullough Elementary School and Holy Family School. All hold and secure notices have since ended.
