Man and woman charged for drug trafficking in Ponoka

An investigation police say spanned several months saw the Ponoka RCMP General Investigation Section, with assistance from Red Deer ALERT, lay drug trafficking charges against two adults.

From October through December, the Ponoka RCMP investigated street level drug activities within and around Ponoka.

On Dec. 12, Mounties arrested two adults and charges were laid.

John James St. Jean, 50, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Michelle Dawn Janzen, 31, is charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She is also facing a charge of trafficking in property obtained by crime.

Both accused have been released from custody on a recognizance to attend Ponoka provincial court on Jan. 10.
