Drayton Valley RCMP report: Nov. 21-28

November 21

3:28 am – Tomahawk – Members responded to a domestic situation. A male was arrested for breaching his previous release conditions and for uttering threats. The male was released after a telephone bail hearing to appear in court at a later date.

7:16 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 624 – Members attended to a report of a truck on fire. Not suspicious, appeared to be caused by an electrical fault.

9:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Members attended to a domestic disturbance. A male was charged for breaching prior release conditions. Of note: Drayton Valley RCMP have dealt with the three individuals related to this file at least a dozen times since early October.

November 22

11:54 am – Drayton Valley – 39 Ave – Complainant reporting that her 88-year-old neighbour isn’t answering the door. Investigation found that the neighbour was fine and when her friend knocked she didn’t answer as she thought it was religious canvassers

2:58 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious male in a business yard. Members attended and located the male who was arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants.

3:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol observed a male pedestrian that he knew had outstanding warrants. Member arrested the male who resisted by pulling away and striking the officer. Jason Joncas, 36, of Drayton Valley was remanded into custody and is facing three new charges.

November 23

12:22 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St S/Hwy 22 – Member conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle observed speeding without lights on. Driver arrested for impaired operation, provided samples of his breath which resulted in the vehicle being impounded and a provincial suspension being issued.

6:38 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant called from Calgary to report that her son, who has no-contact conditions with some family members, may be in Drayton Valley. Complainant also had third hand information the suspect was sending threatening texts. Member was unable to locate the suspect in Drayton Valley, complainant advised to report any breaches in her area.

10:36 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 502 – Complainant reported a family member threatening to shoot herself, has access to firearms. Members attended and took the female to hospital with her cooperation. Several guns were seized for safety.

November 24

3:25 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a hotel reported a male sleeping on a couch in their lobby, not a hotel guest. Member used skilled investigative techniques and determined he was registered at a different hotel. Member returned the male to the hotel for which he was carrying a key.

7:40 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Complainant reported a theft of $150. Investigation found that the complainant gave his debit card to acquaintances to get money, but they took more. Member advised complainant this wasn’t a theft as he provided his PIN. This is approximately call 13 involving these individuals since early October.

4:50 pm – Drayton Valley – Detachment – Sexual assault reported, under investigation.

5:59 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Report that two days’ prior a male in Black Dodge Charger cracked open the window just enough to take pictures of kids on the playground, camera lens seen through cracked open window.

10:59 pm – Brazeau County – Lodgepole – Based on recent information, members attended a residence to execute warrants from both Rocky Mountain House and Drayton Valley, dating back as far as 2012. Brian Desjarlais, 49, was arrested on four outstanding warrants and charged with breaching a no-contact condition. He was remanded in custody.

November 25

9:10 am – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant reported five vehicles were entered at a business, property stolen. Under investigation.

1:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 St – Complainant reported that sometime over the weekend someone entered his truck; damage to door handle and ignition. Possible attempt to steal the truck. Under investigation.

5:13 pm – Parkland County – Twp Rd 512 – Complainant reported a suspicious male selling security systems. Member contacted complainant, male is actually selling alarms systems for a company currently working in the area.

11:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a window broken at neighbouring business, suspected someone may be inside. Members attended, suspect had left. Under investigation.

November 26

4:00 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Member on patrol spotted a male with outstanding warrants. The male was arrested on the warrants and subsequently released to appear at a later date. Male facing new charge of possession of meth.

7:10 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that sometime overnight the back window of his girlfriends Jeep was broken while parked at a motel. Some clothing and a guitar were stolen. Under investigation.

1:59 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Buck Creek Rd – Members attended to a single vehicle collision. Driver heading East lost control on ice, reported to have been blinded by snow from a passing truck, went off road into opposite ditch and hit sign warning West bound traffic of icy roads. 2008 F350 totalled, driver suffered minor injury.

4:44 pm – Drayton Valley – Member opened file to investigate possible historical assaults that took place in Drayton Valley. Information obtained when victim provided a statement to another detachment. Under investigation.

7:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported a male refusing to let staff leave a business, talking to himself outside the door, punching imaginary people, appears to be on drugs. Members attended and arrested the male who was held in cells overnight until sober. Members have dealt with this male several times in the past few days. Second call of similar information received from nearby location.

November 27

2:30 am – Drayton Valley – Members on patrol observed an SUV driving erratically and then drive into a fence on 52 St. A male exited the vehicle and tried to run into the adjacent apartment building but was intercepted by members. Dorian Bell, 30, was arrested and will appear in court at a later date on three charges. Members then spoke to a male who came out of the building to advise it was his mothers SUV. Members queried this second male and found he had a warrant from Rocky Mountain House. Search incidental to arrest located a quantity of cocaine. A 24-year-old male is facing possession charges.

8:24 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Victim attended the detachment to report a male known to him had bear sprayed him and stolen his black 2003 GMC Sierra pickup. Members were unable to locate the truck or the suspect. A warrant has been issued for 24-year-old Dakota Ouellette of Drayton Valley.

12:14 am – Drayton Valley – Members attended to a report of a deceased 62-year-old male. Death not suspicious, no further information being released.

November 28

2:28 am – Drayton Valley – a male called to report his wallet stolen, then the call disconnected. Member was able to contact the male who sounded intoxicated and was asking for his wallet. The male then accused the police of stealing his wallet.

6:00 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Ave – Complainant reported his silver 2010 Silverado stolen. Complainant advised it was unlocked and running with keys in to warm up. Police do not recommend this as it leads to vehicles being stolen.

8:00 am – Drayton Valley – Female attended the detachment with a four-year-old boy she found outside on wearing only pyjama bottoms. A CFS worker assisted who knew where the boy lived. Members attended the residence and found a female sleeping in the basement who advised another female was supposed to be watching the boy, who’s father wasn’t home. Boy was left in care of CFS worker to investigate. The boy was near his home and in good health.
