Changes to off-site levies given final approval by council
Second and third readings were given at Monday’s Red Deer city council meeting that should make development more attractive.
The City’s off-site levies policy now sees the city separated into 19 areas with different per hectare rates.
Off-site levies are charged to a developer in order to pay for water, sanitary, storm and road infrastructure.
Prior to the new rules, the same fee of $237,000 per hectare applied across the city. Now, some areas will drop to as low as $76,000, while the highest increase is to $308,000.
