November 27 – Socks, Socks, and More Socks!

Does anyone else looovvve colourful socks? We hope so, because today we are making the most colourful socks our imaginations can handle!

This is a drop in program. Cost is $3 per child for non-members, $2 per child for members – parents and caregivers are always free! Your little one(s) can enjoy some toy time, create mini masterpieces and play while you enjoy a cup of coffee. Perfect for ages 5 and under.

November 25 & 27 – Twisted Twine Drawings

Today’s Class: Draw whatever you want! We’ll be using string as our drawing medium this week.

The MAGsparks artists will show everyone how to create this week’s themed art project, so make sure to arrive by 1pm, and then there is free time to creatively work on your own artwork! An artist is always on hand for assistance with you art project.

Do you know who Alberto Giacometti is? Bronze, figurative, sculpture, influential, Cubism and Surrealism; these are all words used to describe his work. We are taking inspiration from his figurative sculptures today, with the wild and wonderful legs, edges and textures. Come be inspired by Giacometti!

Drop-in art making for the entire family in the Discovery Studio at the MAG. We supply the artist, the inspiration and the materials, you supply your imagination. Admission included with your Family MAG Membership or drop in admission rates apply. Drop in rate of $10 per family for non-members.

MAGSampler: Blotted Book Binding with Sally Towers – Sybblis

November 24 5:00 – 8:00pm

Paint a series of interesting papers using watercolor paints. Handcraft your painted papers into a unique little book with a simple book bind. Learn simple calligraphy to add to your book for reflective journaling or use it for creative doodling. No previous experience is required for this class. Cost is $40/spot for valid MAG members, $50/spot non-members; non-refundable. For ages 15+.

Dave More has been a significant figure in the history of art in Central Alberta. He has pursued his career as a painter and he has taught and mentored many artists in this region. His artworks present his impressions of the world around him: the landscape, the people, gardens as well as other places he has visited such as New Brunswick and India.
