Nov 13, 2019 | 6:30 PM

Members of the community are invited to join the Red Deer Native Friendship Society for their upcoming conference, Nov. 18-19 at the Baymont Inn and Suites.

TALK Conference: Truth Awakening Love & Knowledge, is focused to increase understanding of Indigenous culture, for Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members alike.

The conference is proud to have keynote speakers Myles Himmelreich, and Dion Tootoosis speaking. Himmelreich is a vocal advocate for individuals living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, sharing his expertise and experience with international audiences. Tootoosis is a professional Master of Ceremonies internationally known for his involvement with the Indigenous Dance Theatre Company, Blackfoot Medicine Speaks, and for the impact he has on audiences when he speaks at Round Dances, Pow Wows, and other gatherings.

β€œIt is crucial to us at the Friendship Society, to bring people together to learn about Indigenous history and ways of being. The more we know about each other, about ourselves, and about history, the stronger we are as a community,” says Executive Director, Lianne Hazell.
