Salvation Army to kick off kettle campaign Nov. 14

The Salvation Army in Red Deer is launching their annual Christmas Kettle Campaign on Thursday, November 14, at Bower Place Shopping Centre at 12 noon, with Deputy Mayor Frank Wong making the first official donation to the campaign. The Corry Brothers will also be performing.

“All funds raised in the kettle campaign in Red Deer stay here to support our programs and services we offer year-round, including our food bank, senior’s programs, school meal program, and more,” says Corps Officer, Major Larry Bridger. “Every Kettle donation can help change a life.”

This year, The Salvation Army in Red Deer has an overall Christmas goal of $455,000 with the annual Kettle Campaign looking to raise $245,000 of that. The money raised from the Christmas campaign is to continue providing programs and services, as well as Christmas assistance, to individuals and families in need year-round. Debit and credit donations will be now also be accepted at all 10 of the Kettle locations, and also online at FillTheKettle.com.

The campaign runs November 14 through to December 23, and approximately 1,450 volunteer shifts will need to be covered. Anyone who has a few hours to spare can sign-up for a two hour shift by calling 403-346-2251.
