Semi rollover shuts down highway near Winfield

RCMP say one person was killed in a serious crash between a car and a semi-tractor trailer Tuesday near Winfield.

The two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 20 happened just before 11 a.m.

Police say the lone occupant of the car died on scene. The driver of the semi did not suffer injuries.

Traffic in both directions on Highway 20 was re-routed through Winfield while emergency crews attended to the scene. Traffic in the area has since returned to normal.

Investigation into this collision continues, however RCMP say icy road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor.
