Red Deer County asking for feedback on rural land use

Nov 3, 2019 | 11:18 AM

Red Deer County is seeking public opinion on the subdivision of agricultural/rural lands. In order to help the County better understand how residents and landowners feel about this very important topic, the County is conducting a short survey.

The answers from all surveys received will be used to help guide and provide direction for policies that impact future development of agricultural land within the County.

According to Mayor Jim Wood, “The Province requires all municipalities to review their Municipal Development Plan (MDP) every 5 to 10 years. The County’s MDP was approved in 2012 and a lot has changed since then. Therefore, Council has decided that it is time to review and update the document. This survey will play a major role in directing Council for future land use decisions.”

The survey has been mailed directly to all Agriculture-zoned landowners, but anyone who lives or owns land in Red Deer County is encouraged to participate. The survey can be accessed on the Red Deer County website.
