LETHBRIDGE- The Alberta Crown is seeking a lifetime ban on owning dogs for a woman who pleaded guilty to charges under the province’s Animal Protection Act.

April Irving had about 200 dogs seized from her Milk River property starting in December 2014 and into January 2015, five were found dead.

The dogs were discovered starving, dehydrated and chained to stakes in a yard.

The Crown is also seeking about $17,000 in fines, but because she can’t afford to pay them, her time served in jail, with pre-trial credit at about five months, could act as payment.
