Two women arrested for crashes involving stolen vehicle
Two women are facing charges after a vehicle stolen from Sylvan Lake was involved in multiple collisions in Red Deer.
At approximately 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sylvan Lake RCMP responded to a call for a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was observed entering Red Deer, driving erratically on the QEII Highway. An initial pursuit by Red Deer RCMP was quickly stopped in the interest of public safety.
A short time later, the vehicle was involved in a collision, striking two vehicles at 51 Avenue and 48 Street. The vehicle continued driving northbound in the southbound lanes of 51 Avenue, then turning west on 59 Avenue.
Travelling into oncoming traffic, police say the vehicle then struck a van. Two female occupants then exited the vehicle and attempted to steal the van when police detained and arrested them both.
