Construction underway on next phase at Clearview Market Square

As many local motorists may have already noticed, work is now well underway on Phase 2 of Clearview Market Square in northeast Red Deer.

The Melcor development near the roundabout at 67 Street and 30 Avenue currently has crews installing underground services.

“It took us longer than we had expected to get our land use approved by the City but we’re grateful to have it, and now we’re commencing construction,” says Daniel Eggert, vice president, property development division north for Melcor. “This year we’ve got three buildings that we’re actively developing and then hope next year, maybe there’s another two or three. We’ll develop 11 buildings out little by little when the deals come in.”

Eggert anticipates construction on the first building to start sometime in the next month.

“We have to give the keys over to the tenant March 31 of next year, so we’ll be starting construction here very shortly on the building itself,” Eggert reveals. “I can tell you that we’ve got Barberitos going in, we’ve got a Tireland going in and we’ve got a Mobil 1 going in and A&W going in. Then we’re working on a number of other deals, one in particular that’s very exciting but as soon as we are able to share, we will.”

Eggert says Melcor is excited to continue to provide the services Red Deerians want and need.

“We’re extremely committed to Red Deer,” he exclaims. “We take a very long-term approach with Red Deer, through the ups and downs. Red Deer obviously hasn’t gone through the best of cycles recently, but we’re committed and we want to help grow the community and make it better to live.”
