Mounties respond to incident at Collicutt Centre

Oct 16, 2019 | 2:17 PM

City Mounties responded to another incident at the Collicutt Centre on Wednesday.

Police were called during the noon hour after Red Deer RCMP Cpl. Karyn Kay says threats were made by one person towards another at the facility.

Kay says it was initially reported that weapons were involved in the incident but that none have been located at this time. She adds that police are speaking with a person of interest identified in relation to the incident.

The Collicutt Centre was evacuated during the incident to ensure the safety of staff and patrons, Kay says. Operations have since returned to normal.

Hunting Hills High School was placed under ‘hold and secure’ during the incident at the request of police. The hold and secure has since ended and classes at Hunting Hills have resumed.

École Secondaire Notre Dame High School was conducting a fire drill at the time of the incident. Officials say all students and staff have been accounted for.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

It’s the second time in as many days that Red Deer RCMP have responded to an incident at the Collicutt Centre after they were called to an altercation that took place there on Tuesday.
