Two people killed in crash near Bassano

BASSANO- Two Medicine Hat residents were killed in a collision outside of Bassano Friday afternoon.

The 71-year-old man and 68-year-old woman were killed when their car they was hit by an SUV as it attempted to turn west on Highway 1 from the Bassano Esso turnoff just after 4 p.m.

RCMP say the SUV was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 1 when it struck the car.

The SUV was carrying two female passengers who both were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The 58-year-old driver was unharmed.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation but there is no indication alcohol was a factor.
