High speed internet coming to Junction 42

Oct 15, 2019 | 12:45 PM

Residents and visitors to Red Deer County may notice work being done along the Highway 42 route from Penhold to Junction 42.

County officials say this work involves the installation of fiber optic cable lines that will bring high speed internet access to the Junction 42 Partnership Rest Area.

The service will be provided by Valo Networks, which successfully bid for the contract through a request for proposal (RFP) conducted by the County earlier this year.

“Not only will the high speed internet make the Junction 42 area attractive to businesses, the service also has potential to expand beyond the immediate business park and into a broader area of the County,” says County CAO Curtis Herzberg, in a press release. “We realize that reliable, affordable high speed internet is a requirement for many businesses in 2019.”
