Oct 5, 2019 | 1:03 PM

The Red Deer Rebels climbed back to .500 Friday night with a 5-1 win over Swift Current, and have now won two of their first three games away from friendly confines.

On the season, Red Deer is 3-3 and find themselves at this early juncture 5th in the central division, but just two points back of Medicine Hat and Edmonton who lead the way.

On Friday, the scoring got started early as Josh Tarzwell continued his early season tear by scoring his fourth goal just 4:28 in.

It wasn’t until just past the midway point of the second that another goal was scored, this time Swift Current’s Connor Horning getting his second to tie the game at one goal apiece.

Before the middle frame was out, Cameron Hausinger put Red Deer back ahead with his first of the year, and what would ultimately stand up as the game winner.

In the third, Chris Douglas (2nd) scored 8:44 in, then Brett Davis (3rd) scored into an empty net, and for good measure, 17-year-old Red Deer native Keaton Sorensen potted his first WHL goal with the netminder back between the pipes.

The Rebels went 0/6 on the powerplay, while Swift Current (2-3-0-0) was 0/5. Red Deer outshot the Broncos 30-28.

Ethan Anders, who stopped 27 shots, was named first star of the game.
