Rebels trade Gottfried to Seattle, acquire prospect forward

The Red Deer Rebels have made a trade for the second time in as many days.

On Wednesday, the Rebels sent 18-year old defenceman Ryan Gottfried to the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for 16-year old prospect Noah Barlage and a conditional seventh round selection in the 2022 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Barlage was a seventh round pick of the Thunderbirds in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft and is currently playing with his hometown Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Gottfried, a Winnipeg native, was drafted in 2016 in the fifth round by the Rebels in the WHL Bantam Draft. He had one goal and seven assists in 48 games played with the Rebels.
