Free AHS healthy lifestyle sessions open to local residents

RED DEER- Residents are invited to learn effective strategies to improve day-to-day health by attending an Alberta Health Services (AHS) Lifestyle Series program.

The Lifestyle Series offers free workshops led by AHS health professionals who share their expertise and guide interactive group sessions.

Interested residents are welcome to register and attend all or some of the workshops, depending on their specific interests.

Upcoming workshops in Red Deer include:

  • Getting Started: Planning for Success

Learn about obesity, how obesity impacts your life and health, as well as how to record what you eat, your physical activity and how you are feeling emotionally.

Nov. 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Lifestyle Change: A Toolkit for Success

Learn how to make and keep healthy lifestyle changes, and strategies such as prioritizing, journalling, problem-solving, thinking skills and goal-setting.

Nov. 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Minding Stress (two sessions)

Discover ways to effectively reduce and manage stress in daily life, learn about the hidden costs of stress and explore causes.

Oct. 15 and 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Moving Matters: Including Physical Activity in Your Day

Discuss ways to become more physically active, benefits and barriers to being more active, and ways to set your own physical activity goals.

Oct. 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Lifestyle Series sessions will be held at Bethany Collegeside, 99 College Circle.
