Three arrested, firearm seized at Ermineskin Townsite

Oct 1, 2019 | 4:26 PM

Two men from Maskwacis and one from the Saddle Lake First Nation have been charged following the discharge of a firearm inside a residence in the Ermineskin Townsite.

Shortly after midnight on September 29, members of the Maskwacis Community Response Unit (CRU) were patrolling Ermineskin when they heard a single shot followed by people yelling within a residence.

Police approached the residence and were able to detain three males and one female. A fourth male fled from police and was not located. Officers found an SKS rifle and ammunition inside of the residence.

None of the occupants were injured by the gunshot, police say.

Quenton Mykat, 24, Randall Littlechild, 32, and Francis Littlechild, 33, have all been jointly charged in relation to the possession of and careless use of the firearm, and each man faces additional individual charges. Bear spray and a small amount of cocaine was located on one of the men.

“Our CRU members conduct targeted enforcement initiatives to disrupt criminal activity,” says Corporal Cale Marriott of the Maskwacis Community Response Unit. “Every time we are able to take firearms off of the streets, the community becomes safer.”
