Weekly recap: September 26-29

RED DEER- This past week the Red Deer College Kings Soccer team shutout the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings and the Soccer Queens dropped a close, hard fought decision to the Vikings.

The RDC Kings Cross Country Running team captured first and the Queens took second at Grand Prix #4.

In exhibition action, both Red Deer College Volleyball teams earned wins and valuable experience at the Fall Volleyball Invitational.

The Queens Basketball team defeated The King’s University Eagles and the RDC Kings Hockey team fell to the NAIT Ooks in non-conference play.

Here is a summary of what happened this past week in RDC Athletics:

Queens Soccer | Saturday, September 28 | SAIT

This game is rescheduled for Wednesday, October 16 at noon in Calgary.

Queens Soccer | Sunday, September 29 | RDC Main Field

The Soccer Queens (2-4-0) made it close, but dropped a 3-2 home decision to the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (4-3-0). Stettler’s Alisha Coules and Red Deer’s Natalie Frenette scored for RDC.

Kings Soccer | Saturday, September 28 | SAIT

This game is rescheduled for Wednesday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. in Calgary.

Kings Soccer | Sunday, September 29 | RDC Main Field

The second place RDC Kings (4-1-1) shutout the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (2-5-0) by a score of 4-0. Lacombe’s Nathan Swartz sniped a pair of goals.

RDC Cross Country Running | Grand Prix #4 | Saturday, Sept. 28 | SAIT

The Red Deer College Kings finished first and the Queens captured second at Grand Prix #4.

Daniel Szucs (28:42), a second-year Business Administration student, placed third among ACAC men over 8 km.

Shayla Sklaruk (25:33), a second-year Bachelor of Education Elementary student, led the Queens and finished fifth among ACAC female runners.
