St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School adopted by Love of Reading Foundation

Sep 27, 2019 | 2:38 PM

The Love of Reading Foundation through Indigo, Chapters and Coles has adopted St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School in Innisfail until October 6, 2019.

The Love of Reading Foundation is a program that helps raise money for elementary school libraries.

Every dollar raised at the stores in Red Deer will benefit students at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School. The money will be used to buy new books for their Learning Commons.

“It is hard to come up with the words to explain what a true blessing this program is to our students! We have lists of book requests that now we can fulfill. The students are approaching us daily with new book titles that they hope we will be able to get for their use. Because of this program, we will be able to enhance our non-fiction section where the kids love to share their knowledge of the world around them with their peers,” said Librarian, JoAnne Kevill at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School.

You can help by:

  • Donating directly to the Love of Reading Program at stores in Red Deer.
  • Go online at http://indigo.ca/ and follow the link to support the school.
  • Fill our Learning Commons by purchasing a book listed on their registry and Indigo will donate a copy to our school.

“As a teacher, I recognize the need of a variety of reading material to interest our students. The teachers in our school strive to enhance our Learning Commons with our own classroom libraries, keeping books at the fingertips of our students always. With this program, we can introduce new material to keep our kids interest in books and having easy access to them,” said Kimi Abreu, teacher at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School.
