DRIVER EXAMS
Alberta adds private road test examiners

EDMONTON- Transportation Minister Rick McIver has announced plans to licence qualified people from outside of government to deliver road tests.
McIver says the former NDP government rushed a government-run system last March — which resulted in some Albertans waiting up to 12 weeks for a driver’s road test.
He says the addition of licensed examiners from outside the publicly-run model will help to reduce wait times.
He adds the United Conservative government continues to review options for a long-term, permanent system that delivers services at a level Albertans expect.
