Blackfalds RCMP lay theft and weapons charges

BLACKFALDS– Two men face theft and weapons charges following an incident over the long weekend east of Blackfalds.

On September 1, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Blackfalds RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious person hiding behind a truck in a rural area east of Blackfalds.

Officers, along with Red Deer Police Dog Services (PDS), and the Alberta Sheriffs immediately attended the area and located a stolen pickup truck.

Shortly after, a man was located along a roadway and subsequently arrested for weapons offences.

A second suspect that had fled the area, surrendered from a crop field, when he heard the police dog approaching.

A stolen truck, stolen loaded shotgun, knife, and several other stolen items were recovered from the scene.

Charges against 31-year-old Allan Hicks of of Calgary include, theft of a vehicle, possession of stolen property and obstructing a police officer.

Police also charged 24-year-old Joshua Anthony Anderson of Calgary. He faces eight charges including possession of a restricted weapon, (shotgun), carrying a concealed weapon, (knife), and possession of stolen property.

The pair will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on September 3.
