ATV collides with police car in Red Deer
The investigation continues after an ATV rider suffered life-threatening injuries after colliding with an RCMP vehicle in Red Deer.
It was late Monday night when police say they followed up on reports about an ATV, motorcycle and a car driving carelessly and at high rates of speed through parking lots and city streets.
Mounties say they attempted to isolate the incident, but did not pursue the vehicles due to concerns for public safety.
Just after midnight, the speeding ATV struck a police car head-on at the intersection of Taylor Drive and 67 Street. The male driver suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital via EMS and then flown to Calgary via STARS. The RCMP officer suffered minor injuries and was released from hospital a short time later.
