Red Deer & District Community Foundation looking for new leader

Sep 1, 2019 | 12:51 PM

The Red Deer and District Community Foundation will be looking for a new leader following the departure of CEO Kristine Bugayong.

The Board of Directors appreciates Bugayong’s service to the Foundation over the last twelve years, eight of those serving as CEO, and wishes her the best in all future endeavours.

“Searching for a new leader also provides an opportunity for the Board of Directors to take a look at future directions and how we can have a greater impact across our community,” Patrick Malkin, Board Chair for the Red Deer & District Community Foundation said.

Erin Peden, who has served as Director of Grants and Administration for the Foundation, will lead the organization in the interim. “Essentially, the Foundation is our community savings account. By pooling donations and saving them forever in our endowment funds, we offer community members a way to provide for their chosen causes permanently,’ Peden said.

Since 1989, the Red Deer & District Community Foundation has been a 360° grant maker that invests in projects, programs, and organizations to build stronger communities across Central Alberta. With an endowment totalling $14.7 million, the Foundation manages 140 endowment funds targeting diverse needs in the community. To date, the Foundation has disbursed grants valued at over $10.5 million across Central Alberta.

In searching for its next leader, the Board of Directors is committed to engaging our stakeholders to develop a profile and attract a leader that best meets the needs both now and into the future with the intent to raise the profile, assets and most important, the impact of the Foundation in our community.
