Upgrade plans for Nordegg difficult for some

Clearwater County continues to follow its Nordegg Development Plan which coincides with their initiative to help grow and bolster smaller communities.

The county intends to make many changes to Nordegg for the better, like the replacement of some of its more dated mobile homes in an attempt to modernize the hamlet.

However, a recent delegation with Clearwater County Council, many residents of those mobile homes expressed their concerns with the coming removal/relocation of their mobile homes once the Nordegg Manufactured Home Subdivision (Mobile Home Park) is complete.

“If I try to move my trailer and it doesn’t make it, I’ll be homeless,” Nordegg resident Dave Boyd told council.

The delegation explained that they realize it needs to happen at some point, but noted many of the residents are either retired, on a fixed income, or both.

“Please, just give us more time for what I’m sure is the inevitable,” long retired Annie McMullen pleaded with council that she just wanted to live out her remaining years in her home.

Communication Coordinator for Clearwater County, Djurdjica Tutic, stated that there is no decision on the direction or date about relocation for Nordegg Mobile homeowners, and that the next strategic planning committee meeting will be on September 16 &17.
