Gasoline Alley transit changes on the way

Aug 20, 2019 | 3:10 PM

Transit route changes are coming to Gasoline Alley this weekend.

According to Red Deer County officials, changes along route 12 starting Aug. 25 will now see service to only the west side of Gasoline Alley and no longer the east side as well.

Officials say route 12 will still start at Bower Place, then head south along Gaetz Avenue before merging onto Highway 2 and accessing Gasoline Alley from the south end of Leva Avenue at McKenzie Road. The route however will still return to Red Deer using Highway 2A from Lantern Street.

Overall, officials say the 30 minute round- trip will connect those who work and shop in Gasoline Alley with the important transit connector at Bower Place.

Red Deer County community services manager Jo-Ann Symington says the County is always using data and customer feedback to determine best levels of service for transit.

“With continued development on the west side of Gasoline Alley, usage statistics and budget determined that this new route would best serve our residents and businesses,” adds Symington, in a press release.

County officials say hours of service for the route are Monday – Saturday from 6:30 a.m., with the last bus stop at 10:55 p.m.

Sunday and holiday hours run from 9:00 a.m. until 6:25 p.m.
