Volunteer of the Month program launches in Red Deer
RED DEER, AUGUST 19, 2019 – Can you name 5 individuals who make a difference through volunteering in our community?
September marks the launch of a partnership between Volunteer Central and Parkland Mall with a Volunteer of the Month program.
“We are thrilled to partner with Volunteer Central, and while we have always offered free space in the mall for volunteer groups to promote themselves, we are hoping in the future, with this partnership, to be able to offer even more to volunteer groups in the future.” says Melanie Willerth, Director of Marketing at Parkland Mall. “The partnership serves to enhance and strengthen community-building through advocacy of volunteering, volunteer groups and community organizations.
With over 5,000 volunteers in Volunteer Central’s database, it is important to note and highlight the significance of the contributions these individuals make in our community. Local non-profit organizations rely heavily on volunteer engagement, and most organizations are unable to sustain day-to-day operations, fundraising initiatives and events without the assistance of volunteers. Sometimes a thankless and hard-to-fill job, it is imperative we shine a spotlight on and thank the thousands of hardworking, altruistic individuals who are making a difference in our community and to the organizations that rely on them.
Nominations can be made by emailing Danielle Stewart at info@volunteercentral.ca. Please include:
⦁ Name of nominee with contact details; phone, email.
⦁ Name/Organization of nominator with contact details; phone, email
⦁ Brief overview highlighting their volunteering efforts
⦁ Explain why your nominee deserves the selected award
We encourage all ages and all experience levels of volunteering to be nominated. Nomination deadlines are the 15th of each month. Each winner will be announced on the 30th of each month. Winners will receive a T-Shirt sponsored by Parkland Mall. along with a profile written about them and their community contributions. The winners will be featured on Volunteer Central and Parkland Mall’s social media accounts, website and newsletter that reaches over 4,000 subscribers. Parkland Mall will also feature the winner in a physical space dedicated to the Volunteer of The Month Award, which will include a collection of all the winner’s photos and profiles for the community to view.
The initiative is a partnership between the two organizations with the aim to enhance and strengthen community-building through advocacy of volunteerism, volunteer groups and organizations who are committed to enhancing a strong, connected and engaged community. The program goal is to encourage community-building, leadership, collaboration and to inspire volunteering through recognition of the individuals who make an impact in our community.
