Red Deer Riggers playoff opener rained out

A lack of co-operation from Mother Nature means the Red Deer Riggers will have to wait a bit longer to start playoffs.

The Riggers were to take on the Sherwood Park Athletics in game one of their best-of-three Sunburst Baseball League semifinals series Tuesday night at Great Chief Park, but the game was rained out.

The revised schedule for the series is as follows:

– Wednesday, August 7 – Riggers @ Sherwood Park 7:30 p.m.

– Thursday, August 8 – Sherwood Park @ Riggers 7:30 p.m. (Great Chief)

The Riggers finished with a regular season record of 11-7 and led the league with 95 runs scored.

Red Deer won five of their seven games this season versus Sherwood Park.
