Summer Road Work

Major road work to impact traffic this month

Aug 6, 2019 | 9:40 AM

Red Deer drivers should expect delays on a number of major roadways over the next two weeks as summer construction projects impact traffic across the city.

Ross Street will be closed at 44 Avenue for one week starting Friday, August 9 for a water main replacement project. Traffic will be detoured using 40 Avenue and 43 Avenue.

Milling and paving will cause overnight lane and road closures on 19 Street, 30 Avenue and 67 Street as part of The City’s Pavement Rehabilitation program. Construction will be done overnight from 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on the following dates:

August 7: Milling on southbound 30 Avenue from 19 Street to 22 Street.

August 8: Milling on eastbound 19 Street between Irwin Avenue and 30 Avenue, including the 30 Avenue/19 Street intersection.

Milling on eastbound 67 Street between Carrington Drive and the Red Deer River bridge.

August 9: Continued milling on eastbound 67 Street between Carrington Drive and the Red Deer River bridge.

August 13: Paving on southbound 30 Avenue from 19 Street to 22 Street.

August 14: Paving on eastbound 19 Street between Irwin Avenue and 30 Avenue, including the 30 Avenue/19 Street intersection.

August 15: Paving on eastbound 67 Street between Carrington Drive and the Red Deer River bridge.

Drivers are reminded to slow down when driving in construction zones and obey all signs, and pedestrians are reminded to cross only at designated crosswalks.

All road construction is weather dependent and schedules may be subject to change. Daily road closure updates are available online at reddeer.ca/roadclosures.
