Drayton Valley area gets large hail Friday night

The Drayton Valley area, which was under a tornado watch for a part of Friday evening, was also battered by hail.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, hail the size of a teacup (80 mm) fell just north of the town.

Teacup to grapefruit-sized hail fell north in Spruce Grove, while loonie-sized hail fell in Devon.

The strongest wind gusts were 91 km/h in Pleasant View, and 88 in Enchant.

Fifteen kilometres north of Athabasca, 30 mm of rain fell.
