Thunder Country athletes bring home six medals from Canadian Trampoline Championships

A local athlete from Red Deer has captured a pair of gold medals at the 2019 Canadian Trampoline Championships held in Oshawa, Ontario.

Thunder Country Trampoline and Gymnastics athlete Keegan Soehn, 26, took home gold in the men’s trampoline competition, beating out number one and two ranked Jeremy Chartier of Montreal and Jason Burnett of Toronto, respectively, to earn the top placing.

The July 25-28 event featured the disciplines of trampoline, synchro trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling.

In addition, Soehn and Chartier joined together to earn a gold medal in the men’s senior synchronized trampoline competition, with Soehn earning a silver in team trampoline as well.

The 2015 Pan Am Games gold medalist was also joined at the event by sister Kalena Soehn who brought home a bronze medal with Dominica Cirone from Quebec in the synchronized trampoline event.

Other Thunder Country Trampoline athletes to bring home medals at the event included:

-Ashton Henfrey who won bronze in the National Level 6 U17 & Junior double mini-trampoline
-Sophie Nossack who won bronze in the National Level 6 17U Women in trampoline
-Spencer Kooman who earned a silver medal in the National Level 5 17+ Men in team trampoline

Additional Thunder Country Trampoline athletes who competed at nationals included Zach Blakely, Ebony Campbell, Madison Ruff, Brenyn Chapman, Taelum Henfrey and Rees Hawryscko .

A total of six medals were earned by Thunder Country athletes at the Canadian Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics.
