Riggers hosting 39th annual tournament this weekend

The Red Deer Riggers are adding a charitable component for their 39^th annual baseball tournament this weekend at Great Chief Park.

The Riggers are holding a Home Run Derby Saturday night at 7 p.m. to help raise funds for the Smiles Thru Lindsay Foundation.

Other teams taking part in this weekend’s tournament include the Calgary Dinos, Edmonton Cubs, St. Albert Tigers, Parkland Twins and Sherwood Park A’s.

The Riggers and Dinos kick things off Friday night at 7 p.m. A full slate of games follows Saturday and Sunday.

Tournament passes for this weekend are $20 with day passes available for $10 and single game passes for $5. All Red Deer Minor Baseball players and kids 14 and under get in free.

Heading into the exhibition tournament, the Riggers sit tied for first place in the Sunburst Baseball League following a thrilling 8-7 extra innings win over Sherwood Park on Tuesday.
