Man tries selling stolen vehicle to Ponoka dealership, gets arrested
Police say an alert employee at a car dealership in Ponoka helped thwart a not-so-alert thief’s attempt at selling a stolen vehicle.
Ponoka RCMP were called on Saturday afternoon to the dealership after the employee determined that a truck the male was trying to use as a trade in was reported stolen.
The suspect allegedly had all the documentation for the truck as well as what appeared to be identification. However, Mounties confirmed the truck in question was in fact stolen and took the male into custody. Further investigation revealed several pieces of stolen identification had been altered, and the RCMP were able to establish the proper identification of the suspect male.
