Central Park and Lucas Heights playground equipment scheduled for removal
Wooden playground structures located in Lucas Heights and Central Park in Ponoka areset to be removed later this month. The decision follows a professional third-party assessment that has deemed the play structures at both locations to have reached the end of their life cycle. Once the play structures are removed, both sites will be reinstated to grass.
Planning for Future Park Improvements is Underway
Under the Town of Ponoka Parks Improvement Plan, the Town has initiated a design process to identify new future options for park spaces in Ponoka. The design process will consider the possibility of future improvements at the Lucas Heights park and Central Park. The process will include reviewing the Town’s priorities for the development of park spaces; working with design professionals to develop concepts for consideration; and engaging the Town of Ponoka Recreation, Parks and Culture Advisory Committee to provide citizen input on proposed improvements.
The design process is intended to ensure that the neighbourhoods surrounding these playgrounds will have access to park spaces that they can continue to enjoy into the future. Updates on the design process will be released as they become available.
