Westerner Days well-attended on first day of fair

Attendance on day one of Westerner Days was up from last year’s opening day with 14,371 people coming to the fairgrounds.
Last year’s total was 14,086.
Westerner Days officials say the parade (WATCH), which preceded the opening of the park at noon, featured 130 entries which strolled by an estimated 35,000 spectators in the downtown area.
The Phillipine-Canadian Association of Red Deer & District took top prize in the float contest. Family First Chiropractic received honourable mention.
